I’ve lost count of how many places (not to mention how often), we’ve stayed on our ski weekends in Whistler. Over the course of twenty-five years, let’s just say it’s a big number. Yet there’s always something new to discover in Canada’s biggest ski resort playground. For skiers and riders who want to be close to the action, staying slopeside is the only option. Here are some of the best slopeside resorts Whistler Village has to offer.

Best Slopeside Resorts Whistler

Blackcomb Springs Suites

We enjoyed a cosy weekend at Blackcomb Springs Suites. This Clique resort is very well-located on the slopes of Blackcomb Mountain, above the Upper Village.

We felt immediately at home as soon as we entered the lobby and spotted the hotel pool just outside the dining area. We gathered in the dining room each morning for the complimentary breakfast that is included in a stay at the Blackcomb Springs Suites. The selection of hot oatmeal, toast, cereals, fruit and custom-made waffles is perfect for fueling up with good food energy for a day on the slopes.

Two-Bedroom Suite

The hotel and room interiors are ski-chalet chic in style, with an emphasis on comfort and convenience. These two factors are critical for us anytime we opt for a vacation rental home.  Our two-bedroom suite came complete with a fully-equipped kitchen, spacious living and dining areas, gas fireplace, balcony, and enough closest storage for all our winter gear. It was a perfect vacation rental home for our stay.

With a view of the lifts, pool area and ski run, our suite was a perfect setting to enjoy family dinner in our room. Our two teen boys enjoyed more than enough space to stretch out their six-foot frames in their room or on the sofas. The free Wi-Fi was also a hit, no surprise there.

Free Ski Check

One of the perks of Blackcomb Springs Suites is the free, secure ski-check that is located just twenty steps from the ski run next to the hotel property. It seriously doesn’t get more ski-in, ski-out convenient that grabbing your ski gear, walking a few steps and popping into your bindings for a short run down to the lift. Skiing-in and doing the same thing in reverse on the way home from your epic day is just as satisfying. This is the closest ski-check-to-hill ratio we’ve ever enjoyed, and now I’m totally spoiled!

Our visit to Whistler took place early in the ski season, when conditions can often be sketchy. Ski-in, ski-out opportunities are dependent upon a decent snow-base after all. So how delighted were we to find more than enough of the white stuff for us to access Blackcomb’s lifts up the mountain. [Not pictured below. That’s the Peak to Peak Gondola!]

The Low Down

The mountain location of the Blackcomb Springs Suite is fabulous for guests who’ve come to Whistler to ski – it can’t be beat. The resort and our suite was pristine – totally, sparklingly clean. Even the tile grout in the bathroom was spotless and white. This is serious attention to detail, and we really appreciated it.

With all the horror stories you hear about hotel cleanliness, things cannot be too clean in my view. Last, and not least, the staff were super friendly and helpful. From the lobby clerk to the ski-check staff, everyone was smiling and gracious. The convenient ski-in, ski-out access to Blackcomb Mountain, on-site equipment rentals and storage, complimentary breakfast and WiFi all added up to a relaxing winter getaway.

Other Whistler Ski in Ski out Hotels

Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside

Located in the main village just a few steps from Blackcomb’s Excalibur gondola, the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside is the closest resort in Whistler Village to the slopes. A fairly luxurious hotel with suites that feature full kitchens and walk-out balconies, Mountainside also has a large heated salt-water outdoor pool with two hot tubs overlooking the village. It’s one of the best slopeside resorts in Whistler to watch all the action while soaking sore muscles from a great day on the slopes. Mountainside has free ski check for its guests, as well as guests of its sister property, Pan Pacific Village Centre, just a few feet away.

Fairmont Chateau Whistler

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is located in the Upper Village, right at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. Hotel guests can easily access the Wizard Express and get straight into some fabulous ski terrain. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, and this award-winning property has excellent restaurants like Portobello, the Chalet and Grill Room, and a lovely wellness centre, the Vida Wellness Spa. The hotel has partnered with Luggage Forward to assist guests with shipping their skis to and from the hotel, a convenient service that also applies to golf bags and clubs in summertime.
