11 Essential tips for Taylor Swift in Vancouver

Event venue

The Vancouver Eras Tour concert will be held at BC Place from December 6-8th. Hopefully you already have your Taylor Swift Vancouver tickets because all three shows are sold out.

If you’ve never been to Vancouver before, welcome! The concert venue for all three shows is BC Place. It’s the biggest stadium in Vancouver, located right in the downtown core. Familiarize yourself with the layout in advance, especially entry gates and nearby facilities.

If you’re staying downtown, you can easily walk to BC Place. If you’re coming from outside downtown or the suburbs, take public transportation via Translink’s SkyTrain to Stadium-Chinatown Station or CanadaLine to Yaletown/Roundhouse station. Or take the bus. Parking is very limited and very expensive.

The City of Vancouver and VPD are undertaking traffic calming measures and road closures before and during the shows. It will be crazy – in a good way! – just plan your arrival and departure from the event venue in advance.

Important: BC Place has a clear bag policy. Avoid bringing bags unless they’re these two permitted types:

  • Clutch purse or belt bag no larger than 6.5” x 8.5”
  • Clear plastic bag (including clear plastic freezer bags) no larger than 12” x 12” x 6”

All bags will be subject to search. Bag check service is available at events on a first-come-first-served basis at $10 per piece.

Weather considerations

Vancouver’s weather is unpredictable, especially in the late fall. Bring layers and a waterproof jacket. BC Place has a retractable roof (which they likely won’t open) but it may still feel chilly if it’s cool outside. Which it probably will be.

Explore the city

Spend some time exploring Vancouver! The city has many beautiful spots for Swifties to check out, like the colorful Gastown district, scenic Stanley Park and vibrant Granville Island (do stand in line for a honey glazed Lee’s Donut).

These areas make for great pre-show photo ops to capture the Eras Tour vibe. Check out my things to do in Vancouver tips, my restaurant recommendations for Vancouver, and the Vancouver Christmas events that will also be in full swing during the Eras Tour.

Swiftie-friendly cafés and restaurants

Several cafés and restaurants in Vancouver are creating Taylor-themed drinks and décor. Look out for limited-edition “Swiftie” drinks at local coffee shops like Café Medina or Nemesis Coffee, and specialty French Blonde cocktails at Hawksworth and Nightingale, complete with a keepsake bracelet.

CRAFT Beer Market is offering the same, plus if you bring in your concert ticket, you’ll enjoy 13% off your bill. Minami Yaletown is celebrating with drinks like gin-based Sparks Fly and the red-wine based You’re Not On Your Own, Kid

Eras events around town

The Great Canadian Trolley Company is gearing up for a Taylor Swift Karaoke Tour where fans can sing along to their favourite songs. Visit some of Vancouver’s iconic landmarks while belting out “Cruel Summer” by English Bay and “Style” by Prospect Point with your besties.

The Taylor Swift Karaoke Tour by Gray Line takes fans on a unique musical journey through Vancouver on a double-decker bus. The tour begins at Canada Place and passes by Stanley Park’s Bright Nights, St. Paul’s Hospital Lights of Hope, and more sites, all to the soundtrack of the singer’s biggest hits.

There’s also a “SwiftCouver” sign installed near Jack Poole Plaza, and the A-maze-ing Laughter figures have been decorated in oversized Swiftie-themed bracelets. Everyone’s getting in on the fun.

Last minute thrifting

Left that perfect tight little skirt at home? Worry not, Swiftie, you can thrift last minute, affordable finds at Mintage on Robson Street downtown, or the Sally Ann (Salvation Army) Thrift Store on Main Street.

Merch tips

For the final Eras Tour in Vancouver, you know that the official merch is going to go quick. Your best place to grab a concert souvenir is at BC Place; plan to to arrive early, items will sell out quickly.

Concert etiquette

The community spirit of Swift’s Eras Tour has been an unforgettable highlight for so many fans.  Be ready to swap friendship bracelets (inspired by “You’re On Your Own, Kid”) with other fans.

Stay hydrated and energized

Vancouver has lots of eateries and food trucks near BC Place. The closest and best restaurant near BC Place is Chambar, specializing in steak or mussels with fries and a fabulous selection of cocktails (the Blue Fig martini is fire) and Belgian beers. Be sure to make a reservation.

Post-show transpo

All good things must come to an end, including the Eras Tour. Plan your exit strategy for after the show. Transit right around BC Place will be packed to the gills, so walk a few blocks to Granville or Burrard to catch public transportation if you can. Rideshare services and taxis will be slammed and surge prices will be in effect; expect delays and plan accordingly.

Capture the memories

Don’t miss a moment of your Eras experience. Make sure your phone or camera is fully charged before the show. Vancouver’s waterfront skyline, public murals and Swift-inspired décor around town are perfect for making unforgettable memories.

Have a fabulous time at the concert and enjoy the Vancouver Taylor Swift Eras experience!
